Helping The Blind

Meet Elizabeth

V.I.B.A.

Meet Elizabeth Majoko, a woman who resides in Epworth, Zimbabwe. Elizabeth was born blind and lost her husband in 2011. She was left with two children, but later had a third child with a man who did not want to stay with her. Elizabeth survives by begging in the streets, but she cannot afford to send her children to school. Her dream is to start a small business of buying and selling goods, so that she can provide for her family. She has tried this before, but the unstable economy and the challenges of being a woman with disabilities made it difficult for her to continue. She says that some people take advantage of her blindness and cheat her out of her money or products. Elizabeth's story is one of many that show the hardships and struggles of women with disabilities in Zimbabwe. They face discrimination, stigma, violence, and poverty on a daily basis. They have limited access to education, health care, social services, and economic opportunities. They are often marginalized and excluded from their communities and society. We are appealing to anyone who is moved by Elizabeth's story to help us support her and other women like her. We are a non-governmental organization that works to empower women with disabilities through advocacy, training, and livelihood projects. We believe that women with disabilities have the right to live with dignity and respect, and to participate fully in their development. We need your
donations to help Elizabeth start her business and send her children to school. Any amount will make a difference in her life and the lives of her children. Please join us in making Elizabeth's dream come true.
